Building sustainable relations in local agricultural chains
In Kyrgyzstan and Tadzhikistan large numbers of farmers are employed in small companies. Many farmers are self sufficient and have a market oriented production. The dynamic in those countries and the region is hardly contributing to a clear trend. It has proved to be quite complex to build sustainable relations within these local agricultural chains. In recent years there was a local trade programme in both countries, which is now reaching its next phase.
Growth savings- and credit corporation in Kyrgyzstan
In the Netherlands the abbreviation ABN is connected to the big financial world of banking. In Kyrgyzstan these three letters stand for the biggest savings- and credit corporation in the country. Almost 700 farmers are connected to each other through it in the northwestern province of Talas.
Organisational support for microfinance
The regular financial sector in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan is not accessible to large groups of poor people in these countries. Over the past two years ICCO has worked with six micro financing organisations who were just starting out on professionalising their staff and developing viable business plans. Four of them are eligible for a follow-up when it comes to financing their organisation in the future.
